Artwork Description:This charcoal study depicts a vulture perched alone on a tree branch. I used layered marks and tonal contrast to capture the bird’s textured feathers, distinctive anatomy, and quiet alertness. By leaving the background empty, I isolated the figure and allowed the negative space to heighten its stillness and presence. This piece reflects my interest in closely observing animals that are often overlooked and finding dignity and beauty in an unconventional subject.
